The BIG Cheese
In the video on 'The Strength of Weak Links' we touch on Mark Granovetter's work on strength of “weak ties.”
“Building sources that can bridge you to weak links is different from building traditional friendships. The criteria you use to build friendships is not only unrelated to building a network of sources but will actually harm your chances of being referred to weak links."

Granovetter is currently the Joan Butler Ford Professor in the School of Humanities and Sciences at Stanford University. One of his current projects is called the “Silicon Valley Network Analysis Project.” Though everyone agrees that the most crucial aspect of Silicon Valley’s dramatic success is its networks, there has been virtually no systematic study of their history, structure and functioning.
