WHERE we were
Silicon South West's conference looked at the need for smarter wireless networks. In 2011 every industry is rebranding itself as "smart" in a variety of ways from the truly innovative to the truly nauseating. At the Conference we looked at the future for the "connected home" as well as how wireless and sensors are going to become even more integrated into our lives.
What’s NEW
When these people speak we listen:
Clive Tomlinson, Solution Architect, IPL
Prof. Chris Harris, Head of Retail Regulation, npower
Anthony Price, MD, Swanbarton
Dan Ilett, CEO, Greenbang
Guillaume d'Eyssautier, CEO, Add Semiconducter
Offbeat CHATTER
As always the pre-conference dinner was lively. We met Guillaume d'Eyssautier, formerly CEO of Picochip and now CEO of add Semiconductor for the first time. And as always it was good to see old friends like Simon Scott and Simon Bond from the University of Bath. Between Bath and Cambridge there is much more that binds us than divides us. In each location innovation is admired, discussed and dissected and while petty rivalries with always exist within both camps the overwhelming feeling is of excitement and discovery. It worth dragging ourselves across the country to Silicon South West's events. We are rarely disappointed.
